Launch of IDNs in .EU
As of December 10, 2009, EURid, the registry for the .EU, will allow companies and individuals present in the European Union to reserve their domain names .EU with local characters (IDN). For example, it will be possible to register joyeuxnoël.eu or bonneannée.eu!
IDNs (Internationalized Domain Names) characterize the domain names containing non-Latin characters, not defined by the ASCII standard. 23 official European languages are concerned, eg the Swedish å, ü the German, Romanian ş but also all the characters of the alphabets used in Greek or Bulgarian.

There will be no Sunrise period. What Does this mean? The trademark holders will not receive exclusivity. Like having previously reserved the domain name in its unstressed not give any priority over the accented version.
